Fantastic news for those who like their limestone steep and immaculate! Access to the legendary Diamond on Little Orme in Llandudno has finally been sorted out. Pete Harrison (the man who single handedly re-equipped LPT and the Split Infinity area recently) took the initiative over recent months and established a high water access route from Upper Craig y Don to a point beyond the tidal cut off point for the Diamond.
Previously visits to the crag involved either a hairy boat trip or for those approaching on foot, an unwanted encounter with a rapidly incoming tide. As a result the crag had become neglected, which was a crying shame given the incredible quality of the routes.

There are a number of project lines on the go at the moment; to read more about these check Chris Doyle’s blog:

Several of the classic routes have been re-equipped: Rub-a-Dub-Dub F7a, Boat People F7c, Skip of Fools F8a+ and Never Get Out of the Boat F8a.
With this new access scenario perhaps the Diamond will finally get the attention it deserves.
This spate of public spirited bolting work once again highlights the need for all climbers who visit bolted crags in North Wales to support the North Wales Bolt Fund. There is now a direct clickable donation link on the homepage of the North Wales limestone and Slate wikis:
