With a brand new definitive Gogarth guide due soon from the Ground Up stable, the inaugural Glorious First Festival could not have come at a better time. Over the weekend of 4th and 5th of August. Gogarth devotees from across the country will be meeting up to celebrate the cessation of the voluntary bird ban. On 1st August cliffs such as Mousetrap Zawn, Red Wall, Penlas Rock, Blacksmith and Smurf Zawn become open for climbing. This will of course be a perfect opportunity to get some action shots and do some route checking for the new guide.

The event is being hosted by top 'ledge shuffler', Adam Wainwright and will be based at the Fricsan pub and campsite in Cwm y Glo, just outside Llanberis. See the pub website for location details:

The event coincides with a small music festival which is due to be held at the pub over the weekend. So expect to see some cracking live bands after you've got back from the crag.

The Puffin artwork for the festival poster was provided by none other than the legendary climber and artist, John Redhead - the original North Stack Wall wad. Ace designer and 80's climbing face, Mark Lynden then worked his magic, producing a tasteful, yet eye-catching graphic layout. To see a full size version of the poster click here.
